Artist, Erik Sommer, recently invited us to his studio in Harlem to check out his new work. If you aren’t familiar with his work, you will be pleasantly suprised by the forthcoming photos. He is an amazing man inspired by the juxtaposition of urban landscape’s imperfections and unconventional beauty. We would like to thank him for reaching out to us and allowing us into his world to see first hand how truly captivating his work is.

Grab a hand full of Yves Tanguy, a generous amount of Salvador Dali and a splash of Max Ernst. Then, go on Craigslist and find a guy with a pick-up truck. Fill it with things that you would find in the dumpster after Hurricane Sandy. Grab all of the cartoons from the 90′s and mix it in with episodes of All That. Dip it in a bowl of the Interweb and mix it with a hands-free head set and all the BOSS by IG Design you can find. It is still not even close to the enigma that is Artist Victor Payares.

I caught up with artist/ friend Victor Parayes at his studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn. We spoke about everything from his sense of style to what inspires him. I hope you enjoy:)

Kendra Morris an amazing singer, collage maker, and interior decorator, who graciously invited us over to her apartment, in the East Village, to do a Q&A. We were speechless once we stepped into her sparkling, emerald green-walled apartment. It was jam packed with deer, moose, fox, bird, and turtle taxidermy. We also had a chance to meet her fun-loving, arm-humping dog, Taco, and super-chill turtle, Melvin! Despite all the mind-blowing things I saw in her apartment, I managed to focus in on the interview and let me tell you – it was a great one!
